Volleyball: Bison Compete at Bluffton Spiketacular

BLUFFTON, Ohio – The Bethany College women's volleyball team competed in the two-day Bluffton Spiketacular, defeating Pitt-Bradford and falling to John Carroll and Baldwin Wallace.

THE HIGHLIGHTS

  • Baldwin Wallace defeated the Bison in four sets Friday evening by scores of 25-27, 25-19, 25-11, and 29-27. Junior Destiny Goodnight led the Bison with nine kills and had five assisted blocks. Emma Marthins led with five solo blocks and three assisted. Asia Crim had 20 digs.
  • The Bison defeated Pitt-Bradford in three sets Saturday morning by scores of 25-23, 25-23, and 25-11. Emma Marthins led the Bison with 11 kills and three assisted blocks. Asia Crim had 18 digs and nine aces.
  • Against John Carroll the Bison fell 3-1 by scores of 22-25, 14-25, 26-24, and 15-25. Anna Taylor and Asia Crim both led the Bison with 21 digs apiece. Olivia Koehler had nine kills followed by Destiny Goodnight with eight kills. Marthins added four solo blocks.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • Through seven matches this season, Marthins has a total of 39 blocks (21 solo).

WHAT'S NEXT?  

The Bison return to action on Friday, Sept. 16 when they travel to Delaware, Ohio for the Bishop Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan. The Bison are scheduled to face Trine, Anderson (Ind.) and Ohio Wesleyan.
