Panthers Close Wooster Trip with Win over Capital

Wooster, Oh. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford finished a grueling trip to Wooster for the Ginny Hunt Kilt Classic with a 4-set victory over Capital. 

The Panthers struggled to find their footing in set 1, losing 12-25 but rallied with 3 straight set wins at 25-12, 25-19, 25-12 to secure the victory.

The Panthers were their own enemy in set 1, committing 11 errors, while their opponents hit .353 to fall behind early. They were able to fix the issues from set one in the last three, as they committed 12 errors for the rest of the match, including a 4th set that saw them hit .375 with just one error.

Darby Deniston set a new career high, recording 17 kills. She was highly efficient, committing 4 errors and posting a.310 hitting percentage. Tabitha Walker secured a spot on the All-Tournament team as she dished out 32 more assists, giving her 149 over 4 matches. She also added 2 kills and 12 digs. Stephanie Carson led the defensive effort for the second straight game, collecting 24 digs. Eve Brink and Kayla Maslowski also reached double figures, finishing with 12 and 11 digs respectively.

The Panthers are now 3-9 on the season. They will have a week to reset, before hosting Fredonia and Wells on Saturday, September 24th in the first home tri-match of the season. They will take on Fredonia at 11:00 a.m. and then Wells at 3:00.
