Bobcats Nab 99-79 Win Over Lions

GREENSBURG, Pa. – Powered by an efficient offensive game, Pitt-Greensburg handed the Penn State Altoona men's basketball team a 99-79 loss in Wednesday evening's Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference matchup in the Chambers Hall Gymnasium.

Pitt-Greensburg (17-4, 13-3 AMCC) shot 54.1 percent from the floor, including 45.5 percent from three-point range. Holding a seven-point lead at halftime, the Bobcats put the game out of reach with a 56-point second half, during which they shot 58.8 percent.

"Hats off to Greensburg. They played a hell of a game, especially in the second half," said Penn State Altoona head coach David McGreal. "We didn't play well on defense at all, and they exploited us. We have to get focused and get ready for Bradford on Saturday. It's a must-win for us."

Penn State Altoona's (13-6, 9-6 AMCC) Andruw Harman (Chesapeake, VA/Great Bridge) scored a season-high 27 points for the Lions – including hitting 5-of-6 three-point attempts – while securing a team-high nine rebounds. Robbie Hicks (Rockledge, FL/Rockledge) came off the bench to provide 13 points, and Cameron Gardner-Nicholson (Philadelphia, PA/Boys' Latin Charter) added 12 points, five rebounds, and two blocks.

Jack Kusters (Quakertown, PA/Lansdale Catholic) contributed eight points, and Austin Krise (Allport, PA/West Branch) chipped in five points, five rebounds, and a team-best three steals.

Pitt-Greensburg got double-digit scoring totals from each of its five starters. Jojo France led the Bobcats with 21 points, while Brady Kingston had 19. Cam Seigfried posted 17 points, Cody Spaid finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds, and Matt Johnson scored 13 points.

After Kusters started the game with a layup at 19:04, Pitt-Greensburg grabbed the lead on baskets from Kingston and France and never trailed the rest of the game. Nate Burt's jumper at 14:40 gave the home team a 13-8 lead, and layups from Spaid increased it to 22-12 by 10:37. A three-pointer from Kingston gave the Bobcats a 31-18 advantage with seven minutes left in the period, and Isaiah Zeise's basket at 3:20 gave Pitt-Greensburg a 17-point lead, 39-22.

Three-pointers from Harman and Hicks helped Penn State Altoona dig into their deficit, narrowing it to 10 points, 43-33, with 1:17 left until halftime. A free throw and layup from Harman under the one-minute mark of the period trimmed Pitt-Greensburg's lead to seven points, 43-36.

Penn State Altoona trimmed Pitt-Greensburg's lead to three early in the second half, following a three-pointer from Harman and foul shot by Krise that made it 43-40 just over 30 seconds into the period.

But the Bobcats embarked on a 23-8 run that turned their three-point lead into an 18-point advantage. France's three-pointer at 15:08 gave Pitt-Greensburg a nine-point lead, and Johnson's trey two minutes later made it a 14-point game. Layups from Burt and Spaid, along with another three by France, put the home team up 66-48 by the 10:50 mark.

Seigfreid's jumper at 7:01 gave Pitt-Greensburg a 20-point lead, 76-56, and the Bobcats maintained a strong advantage throughout the rest of the game.
