BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Hilbert College softball team faced a hot pitcher in the opening game before they settled in during the night cap match.
The Hawks fell in a 7-0 no-hitter defeat and closed the day with a 3-1 loss to the Mavs at McCarthy Park.
GAME 1
Medaille's Laura Kratzke picked up her 12 victory of the season after she earned a no-hitter with 11 strike outs through six innings.
Rachel Allen (3-8) went two innings, faced 13 batters and give up five earned runs.
Victoria Dzaak closed the game (four innings) striking out four with five hits, no earned runs.
GAME 2
Medaille jumped out 3-0 in the bottom of the first inning and held on from there. Hilbert scored their solo run in the top of the fourth when
Nateal Papasergi hit a sacrifice fly which scored
Morgan McNeill.
The Hawks earned three hits with
Brittany Cooley earning hers in the third inning. McNeill started the Hilbert rally with a double at the start of the fourth and started the sixth with another single.
Dzaak went the full six innings with three earned runs and eight hits. She struck out two and walked one in the loss.
The Hawks will close their 2017 season this weekend when they welcome Pitt-Greensburg Saturday, April 29. The softball team will honor their three seniors (
Rebecca Bailey,
Brittany Cooley and
