MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The softball team split their final two games of their spring trip on Friday. Greenville fell to Medaille 7-3 prior to defeating Lycoming 5-4.

In the first game, Medaille took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, and the Panthers tied the game at 1-1 with an RBI groundout by Deidra Holzhauer in the bottom of the inning.

In the second inning, Medaille added three more runs, and the Panthers got two runs on a fielder's choice by Jaclyn Belzer that resulted in an error.

Greenville failed to score over the rest of the game, and Medaille added two runs in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Holzhauer pitched two innings, allowing four runs on six hits and was saddled with the loss. Maegan Stone entered the game and spun five innings as she allowed three runs, one earned, on seven hits.

In the second game, the Panthers took control against Lycoming in the first inning, putting three runs on the scoreboard. Olivia Shipman had an RBI single, and Stone produced a two-run double.

Greenville added a home run by Emma Deters in the bottom of the second inning and got a sacrifice fly by Morgan Wendling in the fifth inning to go on top 5-0.  Lycoming rallied for four runs in the top of the sixth, but they were unable to defeat Greenville.

Wendling earned the pitching win with five innings, only allowing two runs on three hits and three walks.

Hayley Jenkins pitched 1/3 of an inning with two runs allowed on two hits, and Stone earned the save with 1 2/3 scoreless innings.

Hannah Hoffman, Stone, and Desirae Yost all had two hits for Greenville.

The Panthers (7-4) will have their season suspended through at least April 5 as a result of Greenville University's cancellations related to the COVID-19 coronavirus.
