EDEN, N.Y. – Calista Mis and
Aaryonah Vaughn tallied two points each today in Hilbert's 22-3 NEAC loss to SUNY Poly in women's lacrosse.
The undefeated Wildcats (5-0 NEAC) outworked the Hawks (0-3) for 16 first-half goals while tapping in six more scores in the second half.
Both Mis and Vaughn found the back of the net in the opening period and Vaughn finished Hilbert's scoring in the second half with an unassisted goal at 25:01.
SUNY Poly won 21 of the game's 26 draw controls and out-shot the Hawks 39-6 on-goal attempts.
Nicole Darrow finished the league game with 17 saves, making 13 of them in the first half.
Mis led the Hawks with four draw controls and
Brianna Stegmeier scooped a team-high four ground balls.
The Wildcats pressured Hilbert at both ends of the field and really limited the Hawks offensive push. SUNY Poly was credited with 17 caused turnovers as Hilbert was tagged with 21 giveaways.
The Hawks hit the road next weekend when they travel to southeastern Pa. for back-to-back NEAC games. Hilbert will battle Lancaster Bible College Friday, April 12 and then hit the turf at Penn State Abington April 13.
