Hawks Beaten at Bryn Athyn In NEAC Action

BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – Bryn Athyn posted a 14-7 NEAC victory over Hilbert College in men's lacrosse this afternoon.  The Lions held the Hawks to a season-low seven goals as they earned the first league victory at home.

Matthew Simon scored twice as Hilbert's leading goal scorer, and Tyler Nicoloff picked up three points behind a pair of assists and one goal.

Nathaniel Hyman scooped a team-high six ground balls and was credited with two caused turnovers.

Adam Zawadzki earned eight saves in 56 minutes of action in net.

Hilbert found their way to single goals in both the first and second quarters.  Nathaniel Hyman and Marc O'Neill and Garrett Knoll tallied Hilbert's first three goals, all unassisted. 

Edward Mathias finished a Tyler Nicoloff pass as the Hawks improved their production in the third, scoring twice, but by the start of the 4th session, Bryn Athyn held a 12-4 lead.

Matthew Simon (Austin Laine and Nicoloff assists) beat the Lions goalie twice in the final quarter and Nicoloff scored the  final goal with just over a minute left in the game.

Hilbert was effect carrying the ball forward finishing with 20-21 clears but Bryn Athyn held a lead in overall shots (41-27).  The Hawks earned 21 ground balls and won 9 of 24 face-offs.

Hilbert (5-3, 1-1 NEAC) travels mid-week for their upcoming league match at Keuka College (4-4, 2-1 NEAC) April 12.  The Hawks' NEAC game is set to start at 4pm.
