3-0 Men's Lacrosse Heads Out East Wednesday to Take on La Roche

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's lacrosse team continues its 2020 campaign as they head out east to take on La Roche University this Wednesday, March 11th in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  Game scheduled for a 4 P.M. start.

The Teams: Wilmington and La Roche. The Fightin' Quakers of Wilmington are looking to improve upon a 2-13 record in 2019 and are now 3-0 after last week's Quaker Bowl win over Earlham. The Quakers average 48 shots per game, won 78 ground balls and turned the ball over 50 times. La Roche sits at 2-2. They scored a total of 51 goals but have the advantage in shot percentage (39%-24%), they have also won 129 ground balls, while turning the ball over 97 times in their four games.  

The Coaches:
 Jeff Arneson is in his third year leading the Wilmington men's lacrosse program. Prior to leading the Quakers to a 5-9 record last season, Arneson, a Wilmington High School alumnus, spent six seasons as head coach at Thiel College (Pennsylvania). La Roche is under new management this year, hiring Zach Wilfong, a former Offensive Coordinator at Division II, Seaton Hill, as well as a high school and University of Pittsburgh club coach.

The Players:
 Wilmington returns its top four offensive players – Connor JudgeAndrew MillerJadon Flannery and Zac Chutca – as each begin their senior season on Thursday. All tallied at least 20 points in 2019 with Judge leading the bunch at 41 to go along with a team-best 33 goals. Miller dished out a team-best 15 assists. After two games, Chucta and Flannery lead the team with ten points while Miller leads the team in goals with eight so far this season.  La Roche is led by two point-scorers in Mitchell Backman, who holds 21 points while scoring 18 goals, and Brent Burkhouse, 12 goals. The third man to be on the lookout for is Austen Lunt, 20 points mainly as the assist man with 13.  

Series History:
 Wilmington and La Roche have met three times and in the brief history between the two, Wilmington has come out on top each time, including a 24-2 home victory in their last meeting back in March of 2017.
