Hawks Hit By the Knights in Men's Soccer

GENESEO, N.Y.  – The Hilbert Men's Soccer team fell in a 6-nill defeat to a strong SUNYAC team, the Geneseo Knights on their home field.
 
Head coach Jonny Black understood the value in today's match when he stated, "It was a good learning experience for the team.  We will learn from the game and move on to get ready for the Medaille game on Monday."  He continued, "Focus is now on the team preparing for conference play in the AMCC."

HOW IT HAPPENED  
  • Geneseo got on the board at 4:05.  The Knights struck again just six minutes apart as they took at 3-goal lead at 17:35. 
  • The Hawks had a great opportunity to break the goal line after Jason Vullo beat a Knight defender on the left side and was fouled which gave Hilbert a direct kick just outside the  box.  Carter Burke line up a shot but sent it just wide of the far post and out of bounds.
  • The hosts took a 4-nill lead to the break and added two more hits, in the 53rd and 80th minute for the win.
  • Hector Harris beat another defender and was tripped up in the box which gave the Hawks a PK at 71:02.  Harris' shot slid just outside the right post
GAME NOTES
  • Hilbert was outshot 28-4 as the Knights limited the Hawks' attack to zero shots on goal.
  • Hilbert challenged the hosts and earned three corner kicks to their four.
  • Jason Vullo and Carter Burke were each credited with one shot while Hector Harris finished with two.
  • Logan Peck was busy in front of the net and finished the game with 10 saves.

The Hawks travel to Buffalo Color Park Monday, September 19 for a 5pm non-conference game against Medaille College.
