HAMBURG, NY – After jumping out to an impressive 3-0 lead early in the match, the Hilbert College men's soccer team settled for a 3-3 tie with Elmira College September 13.  Matt Hamister tallied two goals while Elmira's Donte Donegal grabbed the focus with a hat trick for the visiting win-less Soaring Eagles.

Daniel Pulaski put the Hawks on the score board in the first five minutes of action.  He took Austin Mathis' pass up the sideline and crossed hard to the frame.  His shot snuck inside the left post before Jonathon Davison could touch it to the back of the net.

At 22:24, Hamister finished a feed to the box off  Mathis restart (watch attached video).  And less than two minutes later, drove a hard ball to the right corner to give Hilbert their 3-0 lead.

Donegal scored first in the 38th minute after a restart and ended the game's scoring, again, after restart in the 72nd minute.

Neither team could finish in either of the two 10-mintue overtime periods.

Hilbert outshot the Soaring Eagles 25-14 and forced their goalie into nine saves.

Brandon Henry was credited with three saves in net.  Hamister and Austin Mathis led the offensive attack with six and five shots, respectively, but Hamister's four shots on goal led all players.

Hilbert (1-3-1) returns to action Tuesday, September 16 when they travel to Morrisville State for a 6pm, under the lights contest.
