Behrend Men's Volleyball Claims AMCC Regular-Season Championship; Lions Earn No. 1 Seed for Playoffs

ALTOONA, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team captured the No. 1 seed and the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Regular-Season Championship with a 3-1 win over Penn State Altoona in the first match of the conference tri-match. The Lions fell to Geneva 3-0 in the nightcap.

Match One:
Score: Penn State Behrend 3, Altoona 1 (25-19, 24-26, 26-24, 25-16)
Records: Penn State Behrend (20-6, 14-1 AMCC), Altoona (14-10, 11-4 AMCC)

Key Moments:

* The Behrend Lions hit the 20-win mark for the first time in program history
* After splitting the first two sets, the Behrend won the final two sets 26-24 and 25-16
* With the win, Behrend will recieve a first-round bye in the AMCC playoffs and host the final four next weekend 
JP Goodsel (Corry, PA/Corry) tallied a career-high 26 kills and completed the double-double with 13 digs
* As a team, the Lions registered 65 kills and 65 digs
Cody Schnur (Butler, PA/Butler) and Owen Wienczkowski (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) had double-digit kills
* Wienczkowski knocked down 15 kills and Schnur added 10 kills 
Adrian Martinez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Wesleyan Academy) led with 15 digs and added five assists
Diego Ortiz (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Wesleyan Academy) had his second-highest output for assists this season with 35

Score: Geneva 3, Penn State Behrend 0 (26-24, 25-19, 25-13)
Records: Penn State Behrend (20-7, 14-2 AMCC), Geneva (18-14, 12-3 AMCC)

Key Moments:

* The Golden Tornadoes completed the season sweep over the Lions
* The Lions edged Geneva in digs, while the Golden Tornados held a 38-34 advantage in kills
* Matt Sanford (Erie, PA/McDowell) led with seven kills 
* Alex Jackson (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) handled all the assists with 26
* Martinez had double-digit digs with 12
