Big Performances Lead Scots to First Win of Year

Harley Holloway Junior Harley Holloway scored a team-high 22 points in her season debut to lead The College of Wooster women's basketball team to a 59-50 win over Hilbert College on Saturday.

Holloway was a much-needed spark for the Scots as they recorded its first win of the season in its home opener during the Nan Nichols Classic. She also added six rebounds and four assists.

First-year Ella Biondi complemented Holloway, recording her second double-double of the year with 16 points and 13 rebounds. She also recorded a season-high six blocks.

Wooster struggled from the offset as Hilbert led 19-12 after one quarter, but Hilbert had its own struggles late in the second quarter.

Hilbert led 25-20 before Holloway scored six during an 8-0 run to give Wooster a 28-25 lead. The Scots would then take a 30-27 lead into halftime.

The game shifted in the Scots' favor for good in the third when Holloway and Paige Wells connected on back-to-back three pointers to go up 36-27. Chloe Pordash found the open player and was credited with the assist on both shots.

Wooster grew its lead late in the third thanks to a layup from Riley Thorr and a 3-pointer from Holloway. Wooster led 48-33 after three, and while Hilbert attempted a comeback in the fourth, Wooster held off the Hawks for the win.

Wooster shot 34 percent from the floor (22-of-65), 31 percent from 3-point range (8-of-26) and 64 percent (7-of-11) from the line.
