Women's Basketball to Play Anna Maria In Consolation Game of Woodcliff Hotel and Spa Tourney

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The Hilbert College women's basketball team evened their overall record at 2-2 after falling to St. John Fisher College (66-56) in the first game of the Woodcliff Hotel and Spa Tournament hosted by the Cardinals.

After an early led in the first quarter, Hilbert's offense stalled while the hosts built a 17-5 advantage after the first ten minutes of play.

Fisher extended their lead to 15 points before Taylor Corts drained a 3-point shot that sliced into the scoring spread.    The Cardinals built a 20-point cushion midway through the second quarter but Hilbert converted on their offensive end and edge back into the game, although they still trailed 40-27 by intermission.

Both teams traded buckets in the third session and the closest the Hawks could get in the final quarter was a 10-point spread.

Emily Gawlak's lay-up brought Hilbert closer (60-50) with just over 5:00 on the game clock.

The Hawks used a 4-0 run at the end of the game when Taylor Corts converted two freebies at the line and Amaya Wood scored in the paint.

As a team, Hilbert converted 37% of the field goal attempts and went 12-of-20 from the foul line in the ten-point road loss.

The Hawks nabbed 14 offensive boards (40 total) but gave up 19 offensive rebounds at the other end of the floor.  The Cardinals matched Hilbert's shooting touch from the floor (37%), yet made 7-of-10 from the charity stripe and sank four more 3-point shots than the Hawks.

Katelyn Proy earned her second double double of the season by sharing game high scoring honors with Taylor Corts.  They each posted 18 points and combined for 19 of Hilbert's 40 rebounds.  Proy pulled down 11 (4 OR) and was credited with three blocks while hitting 8-of-11 shots from the floor.  Corts went 4-of-11 from beyond the arc and made both free throws.

Emily Gawlak also chipped in 13 points, swiped a pair of steals and finished with two assists while Demi Battin earned game-high honors with six assists.

The Hawks (2-2) will face Anna Maria in the 1pm Consolation game which will be played in the Manning and Napier Varsity Gymnasium.
