BUFFALO, N.Y. – Hilbert College dropped a twinbill at Dopson Field today against Medaille College, suffering 3-1 and 4-1 Buffalo Cup series losses.
The Hawks earned eight hits on the day while facing the second hottest pitcher in the league.
Alyssa Barnas and
Morgan Grosch earned the Royal and White's RBI's, one in each game.
GAME ONE
The Mavs held a 3-run lead through four innings before Barnas' single RBI scored
Maia Delaney in the top of the 5th.
Hilbert had their chances to add more but they left seven runners on base during the seven inning game.
Rachel Allen struck out two, walked one and gave up two earned runs in her three inning loss.
GAME TWO
Hilbert pushed their run across the plate in the 4th, setting a 2-1 score but never gained any more ground by the middle of the 7th in the 4-1 loss.
Victoria Grayson went 2 for 3.
Morgan Grosch's fielder's choice RBI knocked in
Morgan McNeill, who earned Hilbert's only other hit in the game.
Marisa McIntyre went the full distance, fanned three batters, walked six, gave up seven hits and three earned runs.
The Hawks softball team's schedule has flipped around a bit as they head to their final week of the season. The Penn State Altoona AMCC game, originally scheduled for Easter Saturday has been moved to Tuesday, April 23rd in central Pa with a 2pm start.
Hilbert closes the year with home games on April 24th (Penn State Behrend) and will honor their seven seniors Saturday, April 27 against Pitt-Greensburg.
