Shaulis Nets 18 vs. Altoona

Kelsey Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) netted 18 points as Alfred State battled Penn State Altoona on Monday afternoon. The Lions used a balanced attack to come up with the 77-51 victory.

After a tight first 10 minutes the Lions held a slight 18-17 lead. They put together strong 2nd and 3rd quarters to take control of the game. They shot 40% in the 2nd and held Alfred State to 23.8% and then shot 56.3% in the 3rd to expand their lead to as many as 29.

Shaulis finished with 18 points, three steals, and three boards to lead the blue & gold. Emily Kelley (Andover) finished with 11 points, seven rebounds, and four steals, Jordyn Pettit (Wellsville) had seven points and nine boards, and Rayanna Anderson (Wellsville) finished with five points and eight assists. The Pioneers shot only 27.3% from the floor on the game and was slowed down by 22 turnovers.

Sydney Snyder led all scorers with 21 points (4 for 10 from three). Alexis Cannistraci finished with 15 points and eight boards and Kaley Strittmatter added 14 points and six boards. The Lions shot 38.8% from the field and 74.1% from the foul line.

The Pioneers wrap up their homestand on Wednesday with a 8 p.m. contest with Pitt Bradford.
