The Pioneers Ride Past Mustangs and Vanquish Warriors

The Alfred State Volleyball team handled business today beating both Morrisville College and Lycoming College going 2-0. The Pioneers beat Morrisville 3-1 and 3-0 vs. Lycoming.

Alfred State 3-1 over Morrisville: 25-19, 25-23, 16-25, 25-13

The Pioneers started the day off with a lot of intensity, winning the first set 25-19. They continue to keep the same tempo winning their second set 25-23. Morrisville then took the third set 25-16. Alfred State set the Mustangs home in the fourth set 25-13.

Adeline Milligan (Pavilion, NY/Pavilion) led the team in digs with 13 digs. Keturah Gregory (Laurel, MD/High Point) finished with 14 kills and Racquel Gerstenberger (Schoharie, NY / Schoharie) added 10 kills. Nayomie Ferrer Santiago (San Juan, PR/Eastridge) finished with 30 assists, seven digs, and four kills.

Alfred State 3-0 over Lycoming: 25-14, 25-14, 25-13

The Pioneers kept the same pace for their second game and destroyed Lycoming 3-0. ASC came out hot the first set winning 25-14. They didn't let up the second set either, winning 25-14. In the third and final set, sent the Warriors packing. Beating them 25-13.

Milligan had an impressive 12 digs. Karleigh Haines (Jamestown/Jamestown) finished with 11 kills and Gregory was behind her with 8 kills. Santiago had 27 assists to go along with 6 kills and 6 digs.

The blue & gold are on the road facing neighboring college Alfred University and Medaille in another tri-match. The matches will be hosted at Medaille starting at 3 p.m. on October 1.
