Eagles Tally Three in Second Half to Beat Penn State Altoona

ALTOONA, Pa.- The Juniata women's soccer team struck in the second half as they won at Penn State Altoona, 3-1, on a rainy Wednesday evening at Spring Run Stadium.

The first half was tightly contested, and it looked like they would go into the locker room even. With under a minute to go in the half, the Nittany Lions found a goal via a tap-in from six yards out.

Juniata trailed 1-0 at the half while holding a 6-5 advantage on shots and a 4-1 edge in corners.

Four minutes into the second half, Alyssa Bui (Cherry Hill, N.J. / Cherry Hill High School East) got the ball to Fiona McDonald (Langhorne, Pa. / Neshaminy) who nodded it into the top corner to tie the score at 1-1.

In the 54th minute, Colleen O'Brien (Collegeville, Pa. / Perkiomen Valley) put one in from 18 yards out to give the Eagles the lead.

In the 84th minute, Grace Gibbs (Arnold, Md. / Broadneck HS) dispossessed a PSU Altoona player and hooked a shot into the top left corner to ice the win for the Eagles.

Julia Lane (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area High School) picked up her first career win in goal for the Eagles, notching four saves.

Juniata begins conference play on the road this Saturday at Drew. The kickoff is at 1:00.
