Women's Basketball Stays Perfect After 71-52 AMCC Win

GREENSBURG, Pa. - Hilbert College picked up their second Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference win today and let their depth and teamwork led them to a 71-52 road win at Pitt-Greensburg.

Taylor Corts (35 min)  and Emily Gawlak's (38 mins) conditioning and stamina propelled them to a combined 39-point performance day.

Corts (4-for-8 from deep) earned game-high honors with 22 points and a team-high four assists. Gawlak (7-of-12 FG) chipped in 17 points and three steals as neither left the court for very long.

Ashley Repine notched double figure points hitting 5-of-9 from floor (12 points  and 8 rebounds) and Katelyn Proy reached for seven offensive rebounds (11 total) while added nine points.

Emma Fredo scored six points (2-of-3, two free throws) as Natassia West was perfect from the floor sinking one bucket and both freebie from the charity stripe.  Demi Battin was active on defense and matched Gawlak's effort sharing team-high honors with three steals.

The Hawks found themselves down 4-5 in the opening minutes before they went on an 11-0 run. In a four minute span, Taylor Corts tallied 10 points lifting Hilbert to a 20-9 lead heading into the second stanza.

The Hawks continued to roll and stretched their lead to 16 points (32-15) off another Corts shot from downtown before they settled into a 41-20 half time advantage.

The Royal and White held their their largest lead in the game (48-24) half way through the third frame, although the Bobcats rallied and outscored Hilbert 14-11 in the third quarter.

Hilbert used their 52-34 cushion at the start of the final session and  rolled to their second AMCC win.

Besides their 38.5% 3-point accuracy, the Hawks scored 40 points in the paint and held a 42-26 advantage on the glass.

The 7-2 Hawks return to AMCC action December 5 when the welcome Penn State Behrend to the Hafner Recreation Center for a 6pm tip.
