ALFRED, N.Y. – Alfred University earned a 4-0 non-conference victory over Hilbert College in women's soccer tonight.
The Saxons scored a pair of goals each half and shut down the Hawks offensive attack en route to their second win of the season.
Jenna Castricone slipped to 1-2 between the pipes and was credited with seven saves in the loss. The junior keeper faced 20 shots with 11 on-goal.
Alfred's Sammy Jo Shanahan faced five shots and made two saves in the 90-minute game under the lights.

Shannon Rogers posted the two shots on goal for Hilbert.
AU found the back of the net ten minutes into the game and hit a PK in the 35th minute to take a 2-0 lead to intermission. Then twelve minutes into the second period the Saxon's connected for their third marker before a fourth and different player posted an assisted goal late in the game for the shut-out victory.
With three road non-conference games behind them, the women's soccer team looks forward to a six-game home stand ahead of them. Hilbert is set to host their home-opener this Saturday against Chatham University at 1pm. They then welcome Thiel (9/13), Saint Vincent (9/17) and Canton (9/21) before the AMCC portion of their schedule begins the last week in September.
