Women’s Soccer Falls to Behrend in AMCC Semifinal Game

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's soccer team saw its 2021 season come to an end on Wednesday afternoon, when the Lions suffered a 6-0 loss to Penn State Behrend in the semifinal round of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Tournament.

Penn State Behrend (18-1), the top seed in the AMCC Tournament, got two goals from Mia Zec and one goal apiece from Angelina Hofrichter, Payton Porter, Trinity Prestash, and Bella Sestito. Fourth-seeded Penn State Altoona (8-10) is eliminated from the tournament with the loss.

Jadyn Michael (Berwick, PA/Berwick) started at goalkeeper and made seven saves during the first half, and Adeline Baustert (Apollo, PA/Apollo-Ridge) played the second half and made three saves. Mallorie Smith (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte) recorded the Lions' lone shot on goal.

Behrend put four goals on the board during the first half to take a big lead by the intermission.

Hofrichter scored the game's first goal at 13:50 off of a scramble inside the box, and Prestash made it 2-0 at 24:40, taking a long pass from Hofrichter and scoring on a low shot.

Zec scored two goals to increase Behrend's lead to 4-0 before halftime. Her header goal at 27:14 made it 3-0, and her long shot that found the top left corner at 44:09 gave the home team a four-goal advantage.

Porter scored Behrend's fifth goal of the day on a penalty kick at 71:23, and Sestito made it 6-0 at 75:12 when she scored following a corner kick.
