The Alfred State men's soccer team hung tough with Medaille but fell 3-0 to the Mavericks in an AMCC contest on Tuesday evening.
Mitchell Ali got the Mavs (4-4-2, 2-0-1 AMCC) just 7:38 into the game when he scored after getting a pass from Carlos Espana. The game remained 1-0 until the 78th minute when Matt Burke scored. Kabura Elias added an insurance goal in the final minute after getting a pass from Ali to seal the victory.
Medaille outshot the Pioneers 21 to 6 in the game. Nico Coria (Honeoye Falls Lima) was solid in net making nine saves for Alfred State while Marcos Escobar made four saves in recording the shutout.
The Pioneers hit the road on Saturday when they travel to Pittsburgh to take on La Roche. The game is slated for a 2 p.m. start.
