Martineau Dishes 13 Assists in Hawks' 3rd Straight Win

BRADFORD, Pa. - Thirteen different players marked-up the stat sheet as the Hilbert College men's basketball team collected their third consecutive Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference victory in a week.

The Hawks built a 14-point advantage midway through the contest and then matched point-for-point in the second half as they earned an 82-66 road win against Pitt-Bradford.

Hunter Martineau posted his second double double in rebounds and assists this season, dishing for a season-high 13 helpers and grabbing 11 rebounds.  He chipped in seven points and added three steals.  His first D-D was really part of the Triple Double in points/rebounds/assists January 16.

Masia Phillips led five different Hawks in double figure scoring.  The junior guard tallied 17 points (7-of-14, 3-of-9 deep) while Joseph Braniecki (four blocks) made 6-of-10 from the floor for 14 points.

Both Ryan Hogan (3-for-5 from deep) and Nicholas Parucki netted 13 points with Hogan getting credit for four assists.  Dre' Turnipseed joined the 10+ club by adding 11 points  fueled by 5-of-7 shooting from the floor.

Alex Karamanos (five points) and Reid Miano (2-for-2 at the line) finished the scoring for Hilbert.

The Panthers jumped ahead early in the opening minutes and it wasn't until Martineau scored a break-away lay up at 14:48 did the Hawks take their first lead (11-9).

There were four lead changes over the next ten minutes of action but Braniecki's jumper at 5:56 started a 22-7 Hilbert run which closed the period.

The Hawks went nine-players deep in the opening 20 minutes.  They converted 54.5 percent of their shots from the floor (18-of-33) and hit all four free throws which lifted them to a 44-30 lead.

Four different players found the bottom of the net early at the start of the second half, and after going up by 21 points (53-32), Hilbert coasted to the finish line.
 
They sank 13 of 14 free throws, held a 37-28 edge on the glass.and posted a season-high nine team blocks.

Hilbert has one day off before they travel to Steubenville, OH to battle the Franciscan Barons February 9.   The Hawks will then turn the corner into the final week of the season when they host D'Youville College February 13th before they host Greensburg Feb. 16 and honor  Joseph Braniecki and Nicholas Parucki in the program's Senior Day celebration.
