BUFFALO, N.Y. – After trailing by double digits at half time, the Hilbert College women's lacrosse team rallied back in the second half, outscoring Medaille (4-3) but fell in a Buffalo Cup match 20-6.
Calista Mis scored the game's first goal less than four minutes into the game, but the Mavericks went on a 10-0 run before
Aaryonah Vaughn found the back of the net ten minutes later.
Medaille, who rode a 17-2 lead through intermission, tallied twice in the opening seven minutes of the second half.
Sam Lawicki and
Brianna Stegmeier scored one each and Vaughn closed the game with back-to-back hits for the final margin.
Medaille held edges in shots on goal (29-14), free position shots (14-4) and draw controls (20-7).
Vaughn and Mis each unleashed seven shots and combined for 10 shots on goal.
Olivia Stachowski led Hilbert's field players with three ground balls while the Hawks goalkeeper,
Nicole Darrow, scooped four. Darrow also was credited with nine saves in the loss.
The Hawks (0-9, 0-6) complete their NEAC schedule with three games next week.
Hilbert will travel to D'Youville College April 24 (7pm) before they return to Hamburg to host Wells Friday, April 26 and Senior Day against Cazenovia April 27.
