Woodward Collects 100th Hit as Pioneers Fall at Fredonia

Senior Dan Woodward (Honeoye) collected his 100th hit of his career on Tuesday as the Alfred State baseball team fell 6-0 to Fredonia in their regular season finale. The Pioneers head into the AMCC postseason with a 19-19 overall record.

The Blue Devils scored three in the 3rd and single runs in the 5th, 7th, and 8th in the contest. They were led by Kole Brink who was 4 for 4 with an RBI.

Woodward collected an 8th inning leadoff single down the left field line to reach the 100 hit plateau and account for one of the Pioneers two hits in the game. The other hit was a 3rd inning single by Tim Holler (Brewster).

The Pioneers were slowed down by the pitching of Nicholas Lawlor. Lawlor threw a complete game two-hit shutout. He walked two and struck out one.

Alfred State has earned the #5 seed for the AMCC Tournament. They will travel to #4 Mt. Aloysius on Saturday to battle the Mounties in a three-game series. Game 1 begins at 1 p.m. with game two to begin 30 minutes after. Game 3 (if necessary) will be played at 11 a.m. on Sunday.
