Booth Tallies 31 Points in Penn State Behrend Loss

Maisy Booth (Canisteo Greenwood) tallied 31 points in the Alfred State women's basketball 83-60 loss to the Penn State Behrend Lions Wednesday evening inside Orvis Gymnasium.

The Pioneers move to 10-10 overall and 7-6 in the AMCC while the Lions improve to 18-3 overall and 12-1 in the conference.

Alfred State shot 31.3% in field goals, 30.8% in three-pointers, 57.1% in free throws and picked up 47 rebounds. The Pioneers recorded their highest scoring quarter in the third with 21 points.

Penn State Behrend recorded 44.2% in field goals, 27.3% in three-pointers, 75% in free throws, had 46 rebounds and were able to score 21 points off the Pioneers 18 turnovers.

Booth led the game in points, picked up nine rebounds and had two steals. Skylar Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) added 11 points, six rebounds and three assists. Emily Kelley (Andover) picked up a game high of 13 rebounds and chipped in five points and five assists. Calesta Reigelman (Johnson City) had five points and five rebounds and Janna Pena (Brooklyn/ACLA) had five rebounds.

The Lions out-scored the Pioneers 24-15 in the first quarter and went on an 11-point run in the second to take a 20-point advantage with 4:52 remaining and led 47-29 at halftime.

The Pioneers cut the Lion's lead to 14 points in the third quarter but Penn State Behrend went on a 12-point spree for a 26-point edge with 6:08 on the clock. They extended their advantage to 28 points with 3:09 left in the third and headed into the fourth quarter up 71-50.

Alfred State held the Lions to 12 points in the fourth quarter.

The women are back home Saturday, Feb. 12 to host AMCC opponent La Roche at 2 p.m.
