The Saint Vincent women's bowling team finished a respectable 18th among 32 teams in the Collegiate Shoot-Out, held at the South Point Bowling Plaza in Las Vegas, Nevada. It marked the first time the Bearcats had competed in a US Bowling Congress Tier 1 Collegiate event.
Competing against a tough field including some of the top programs in the nation, the Bearcats climbed as high as 15
th midway through the opening day before settling to 19th
at the end of the block of six traditional games.
On day two, the Bearcats were able to move up to 18th, falling just five total pins shy of 17th place Ohio State University (7873-7868), despite finishing with the team's best four-game block of the day, a 732 (183 average). Overall, the Bearcats averaged 171 for 46 games over the two days.
In traditional play, SVC was led by sophomore
Jackie Koehler, who finished 10th overall in the field of 226, among bowlers competing in five or more games. Koehler averaged 203.6. Her five-game total of 1,018 pins established a new school record, eclipsing the mark of 1,013 held by her sister, Danielle.
Monique Koehler averaged 186, while
Olivia Emmonds averaged 176.5.
Kaylea Wright (169.6) and
Mercedes Belch (167.25) rounded out the top-5 for Saint Vincent.
On day two, it was freshman
Sabine Strickland leading the team in Baker action with a per-frame average of 18.37, a game equivalent of 183.7.
Jackie Koehler (18.09), Wright (17.86),
Jessica Guesman (17.23) and
Monique Koehler (16.26) rounded out the top-5 for SVC.
Overall for the tournament,
Jackie Koehler averaged 19.69 per frame (196.9) to lead the way, followed by her twin sister Monique (17.84) and Emmonds (17.00).
Saint Vincent will be back in action on Saturday, January 15, hosting the inaugural Pittsburgh Collegiate Classic at Lincoln Lanes in Latrobe.
