Jackson and Rogers Carry Hawks Against Red-Hot Panthers

BRADFORD, Pa. – Wyann Jackson produced career-high numbers tonight as the Hawks from Hilbert struggled to contain Bradford's three-point shooters.  The Panthers controlled the pace of the game and collected an 88-67 AMCC victory in the KOA Arena.

Jackson lifted the Hawks with 20 points, hitting 8-of-13 from the floor, as they fell to 9-12 overall and 5-9 in AMCC action.

Anna Colebert led all scorers with 26 points hitting 7-of-10 shots beyond the arc.   Bradford dialed 14 makes from long distance by the final horn.

Shannon Rogers posted another double-digit scoring performance scoring 20 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.  Kelsi Ebert notched her 11th double-digit scoring effort when she poured in six free throws and hit a pair of jumpers from the floor (10) and added five assists.

Katelyn Proy connected on four of her six shots to add nine points (seven rebounds). Tonight's game marked only her third game this season where she was not credited with at least one blocked shot.

After an early deficit, Shannon Rogers sank her first collegiate 3-pointer in 1st quarter and gave the Hawks their first lead of the game (8-7) at 4:54.

Jackson scored six straight points and Kelsi Ebert knocked down all three free throws before the end of the first period to inch the Hawks closer to Bradford who led 19-17 after 10 minutes.

Rogers tied the game 21-21 at 8:10 in the second quarter but then Bradford went on a 24-4 run to open-up the game with 2:46 still to play in the quarter.  The Panthers connected on six 3-point shots to build a 47-26 advantage by intermission.

In the first 20-minutes of action, Hilbert made good on 8-of-28 field goal attempts (28.62%) while Bradford sank 18-of-34 shots, hitting 9-of-18 beyond the arc.   The Panthers also picked up 27 points off Hilbert's 13 first-half turnovers.

Both teams exploded for big third-quarter points with Hilbert striking for 23 while Bradford remained hot from the floor with 29 points.  Jackson sank both her 3-point attempts and hit a jumper in the paint to lead all Hawks with eight points.  Proy worked for three layups and went 1-for-2 at the foul line to add seven third quarter tallies.  The Panthers dinged the Hawks for four more shots beyond the arc.

Rogers and Jackson hit early in the final period while Lindsay O'Neil and Morgan Mcneill scored on inside/outside shots before Calista Mis hit her one free throw before the final horn.

The Hawks (5-9) dropped into a two-way tie with D'Youville (5-9) for 7th place heading into the final two and a half weeks of the regular season schedule.  Hilbert is still chasing Franciscan who has a 5-8 league record with one additional game to still play on their schedule.

Hilbert boards the team bus this weekend and travel down to Pittsburgh to challenge the league leading La Roche Redhawks (12-1) at 4pm February 6th.
