GROVE CITY, Pa. – After taking a very early lead in the game, the Hilbert College men's soccer team gutted out a 5-1 loss at Grove City College September 6.  The Hawks continue to look for their first win in three tries while the hosts moved to 2-1-1.

Hilbert stuck first just over two minutes into the game when Tyler Eister played a ball for sophomore Anthony Pellicano who delivered his first collegiate in his career.  The Hawks didn't hold the lead for long for Grove City knotted the game at 4:04 and scored what would turn into their game-winner at 9:43.

With two more touches to the net before half time, Grove City held a 4-1 advantage during intermission.  They outshot the Hawks 16-3 and held a 3-0 corner kick advantage.

Hilbert got Grove City under control in the second half, limiting their shots to eight, but the hosts still pushed the ball towards the frame as they took five more corners in the last forty-five minutes of play.  With less than three minutes remaining in the contest, Grove City blasted the ball from 22 yards out to pick up goal number five.

Brandon Henry made five saves and took his second loss of the season for HIlbert.

Of the six Hilbert shots attempted, four were unleashed by defenders.  Hawk middie Austin Mathis was the other offensive weapon in the non-conference match.

Hilbert fans have only four days left before they can sit in the Hawks nest and cheer for your 2014 men's soccer players who will host Alfred University September 10th.
