Women’s Soccer Blanked 2-0 at Behrend

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Altoona women's soccer lost a defensive battle on Saturday afternoon, falling 2-0 to Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference opponent Penn State Behrend.

The game was dominated by defense and featured little offense, as the two teams combined for just 11 total shots attempted, seven shots on goal, and two scores.

Penn State Behrend (5-5-2, 4-0-1 AMCC) scored the lone goal in a relatively slow first half, a period that saw just three total shots attempted between the two teams. The home team jumped ahead 1-0 at 29:33, when Payton Porter scored a goal on a bicycle kick in the box over the keeper.

That score remained until late in the second half, when Behrend tacked on an insurance goal. Brenna McGuire scored at 80:59 to make it 2-0, taking a through ball from Porter and finding the back of the net with a shot.

Behrend led Penn State Altoona (4-7-2, 2-3-1) in shots (9-2), shots on goal (6-1), and corner kicks (9-3).

Kaitlyn Harmon (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy) made four saves between the pipes for Penn State Altoona, and Kierra Irwin (Altoona, PA/Altoona) had her team's lone shot on goal.

Penn State Altoona women's soccer's next game is Tuesday, October 15, when the Lady Lions will travel to play nearby AMCC rival Mount Aloysius College in a game starting at 8:15 p.m.
