ALTOONA, Pa. – The Hilbert College women's volleyball team completed their 2017 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference schedule this afternoon with a 3-0 defeat at Penn State Altoona. 

The Hawks continue to show improvement but roster depth eventually takes its toll on the team.  Altoona closed the game with a .241 hitting percentage collecting 38 kills and 35 assists, which were shared between a pair of setters.

Hilbert collected 17 kills (-.020) with 15 team assists, a majority of them set-up by Torianna LeWand.

In the opening set, Hilbert found themselves down by seven points (11-4) but sliced the difference to 15-12 midway through the match. The Lions went on a 7-3 run putting the game out of reach in a 25-17 victory.

The Hawks jumped out on top early, building a 4-1 advantage before Altoona went ahead 9-7.  The royal and white climbed back into the game forcing four ties, the last at 12-12.   Four Hilbert errors allowed the Lions to pull just enough ahead to take a 25-18 win.

Altoona stayed on top from the start and pulled out a 25-13 match win.

Torianna LeWand posted 11 assists, 10 digs, five service aces and four kills for the Hawks who finished at 0-9 in AMCC action.

Maegann Mein led with six kills and added 11 digs while Ashley Repine posted 14 digs and two solo blocks.

The Hawks (1-22) will travel to Alfred State College this coming Tuesday, October 31 for their final match of the 2017 season.
