FREDONIA, N.Y. – Hilbert College women's volleyball opened the Blue Devil Invite tournament this afternoon with a single match against SUNY Canton. The Kangaroos (14-3) from Northern New York jumped on the Hawks and took a 3-0 victory in Dods Hall on the Fredonia College campus.
Amanda Binder found seven kills and hustled to 16 digs today, both team high honors.
Canton posted 39 kills with a .301 attack percentage and served down 15 aces through three sets. Hilbert collected 16 kills and limited their service errors to three, an area of the game they have struggled with lately.
Canton took the opening set 25-17 and followed with a 25-13 victory. The Hawks fell behind 7-0 in the start of the third set, thanks to four Kangaroo aces, two kills and a Hilbert hitting error. After Hilbert called a timeout, Canton knocked down an additional ace on their way to building a 10-0 score.
Serena Tecl broke the ice for Hilbert with her kill off a redirect at the net for a 10-1 score. Canton took the final point off another service ace for the 25-7 win.

Morgan Ott assisted nine times and collected five digs and three kills.
