Behrend Volleyball Wins Third Straight; Lions Down Thiel

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team posted a 3-1 victory over Thiel in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) opener on Thursday night. 

Score: Penn State Behrend 3, Thiel 1 (24-26, 25-17, 25-19, 25-17)
Records: Penn State Behrend (6-3, 1-0 AMCC), Thiel (0-6, 0-1 AMCC)

* The Lions won the first of two meetings against the Tomcats
* The win marks the third straight for Behrend
* Thiel hit .379 with 15 kills and four errors on 29 attempts to take the first set, 26-24
* The Lions won three unanswered sets to the conference-opening win, holding the Tomcats to single-digit kills in the final three sets
* Behrend took control in the second set, jumping out to an eight-point lead at 17-9 and eventually winning by eight poins
* Down 12-9 in the third, the Lions went on a 12-2 run to take a 21-14 lead and stay out in front for a 2-1 lead in the match
* Behrend secured the win with a kill from Adrian Martinez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Wesleyan Academy) and blocks from Cody Geis (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) and Cody Schnur (Butler, PA/Butler)
* Hildebrand and JP Goodsel (Corry, PA/Corry) each tallied 12 kills
* Jake Albert (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) handed out 19 assists and Josh Mathews (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) had a team-best 10 digs
* Geis finished with five block assists, two aces and two kills, while Schnur tallied six kills and four blocks
