Pioneers Ride Past Mounties

The Alfred State women's basketball team never trailed as they opened up 2020 with a 72-47 victory over Mt. Aloysius.

The blue & gold led 14-9 at the end of 10 minutes and 26-19 at the half. They added to their lead in the 3rd (47-37) and put the game out of reach by outscoring the Mounties 25 to 10 in the 4th.

The duo of Jordyn Pettit (Wellsville) and Rayanna Anderson (Wellsville) both finished with double-doubles. Pettit was 10 for 18 from the field and finished with 24 points and 19 boards in 37 minutes of action. Anderson finished with 11 assists to go with 10 points. Kelsey Shaulis (Ovid/South Seneca) finished with 14 while Emily Kelley (Andover) added eight points, six rebounds, and five assists.

ASC shot 50% (30 for 60) from the field and outrebounded Mt. Aloysius 54 to 40.

Emma Kitko led Mt. Aloysius with 18 points. MAC was held to just 21.9% shooting in the contest.

The Pioneers play their final non-conference game on Monday when they host Nazareth at 2 p.m.
