Women's Basketball Looks to Build Momentum After Win

Bradford, Pa. -- The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Women's Basketball team is looking to build on the momentum from their first victory of the season on Saturday.

In their last action, the Panthers (1-7, 1-3 AMCC) defeated Franciscan 63-47 on Saturday afternoon. Seniors Jenna Hicks and Shirleah Ragin led the way for Pitt-Bradford, each scoring 14 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. Hicks had an efficient day, scoring her points on 5-9 shooting from the field and making 4 of 4 from the line. Coming off the bench, Ragin shot 6-13 from the field and hit 2 of 6 from beyond the arc. Ragin also added 1 assist, 1 steal and 2 blocks. Jasmin Miller also finished in double figures with 12 points. For the season, Shaelyn Snipes is the Panthers' leading scorer with 11.1 per game. Miller and Ragin are just behind, scoring 9.4 and 9.0 points per contest respectively. Hicks is the team's leading rebounder, grabbing 9.3 per game, the 4th best total in the AMCC. The Panthers are the top offensive rebounding team in the AMCC, averaging 17.8 per game. 

The Mavericks are still looking for their first win of the year, currently at 0-8 overall with an 0-4 record in conference play. Their last game was a 6 point loss to LaRoche University at home on Saturday. Junior Morgan Kennedy is the leading scorer for the Mavericks, averaging 16.4 points per game. She has the third highest points per game average and the second highest shooting percentage (57.9%) in the AMCC. Her classmate, Katherine Willett, is also averaging double figures, scoring 12.3 points per game. The MAvericks score 56.1 points per game and allow 67.1. As a team, they shoot 36.4% from the field and 28.6% from three. 

The game is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. tonight in KOA Arena.
