Gwynedd Valley, Pa. - (11/11/2023) - Gwynedd Mercy University (2-1) evened their stay at the Chatham University Tip-Off Classic with an 80-56 triumph over Carlow University. The Griffins had six double-digit scores with senior JoHaan Vinson (Philadelphia, Pa.) headlining the effort with 20 points on 6-of-9 (.667) shooting performance and a 6-of-7 (.857) success rate from the free throw line. The Celtics held the advantage during the early-going, but gave way to a Gwynedd Mercy University rally around the 11-minute mark (19-17, 11:04). From there, the Red and Gold posted a 35-29 halftime advantage before ending the contest by a 24-point margin.

Griffin Highlights

• Gwynedd Mercy University shot 47.6% (30-of-63) from the floor and held Carlow University to 27.9% (17-of-61) performance.
• The Griffins out rebounded the Celtics 42-38, scored 16 points off their 15 turnovers, and made nine steals.
• Vinson added five rebounds to his 20 points.
• A balanced rebounding effort included six board apiece from senior guard Aziz Parker (Westampton, N.J.) and junior Dom Thomas (Mullica Hill, N.J.). The former also recorded 11 points, two assists, and four steals, while the latter additionally scored 10 points.
• Freshman guard Mazen Sayed (Chichester, Pa.) contributed 10 points, five rebounds, five assists, and a steal.
