Game Recap: Baseball |

Baseball Battles At Bradford

BRADFORD, Pa. - After dropping a tough opening game in extra innings, the Hilbert College baseball team suffered a seven inning set-back to Pitt-Bradford this afternoon.

The Panthers scored a walk-off RBI in the 8th in the 1pm,  4-3 win before they limited Hilbert's hits in the 9-3 final.

GAME ONE

The Hawks took a 3-0 lead after two innings and battled the Panthers in a 3-3 game till the bottom of the 7th.  That tie score forced the extra inning AMCC game to shift from Game Two to the opener.

All three Hawk batters in the top of the 8th were sent right back to the dugout forcing Hilbert's defense to take the field again.

Zachary Crane, who finished his third complete game of the season, got the second batter to ground out.  With a runner already on third, the Hawks intentionally walked the third batter. Bradford won the game on a RBI single from the next batter who picked up the bat.

Crane struck out six, walked one and gave up nine hits as his record on the mound moved to 1-4.

Ryan Perrin's triple scored two runs just before Zach Amato, who went 3 for 4 on the day, singled-in the third RBI in the 2nd inning.

Tristan Aldinger went 2 for 2 and scored one run.

GAME TWO

Hilbert put one run on the board in the 1st, 3rd and 4th innings before they battled to make contact at the plate, sending no more than four batters per inning after that.

The Hawks kept the hosts off the scoreboard through two innings of clean work.  Bradford then manufactured all nine runs in the bottom half of the next four innings.

Daniel Munn walked one while giving up seven earned runs off 12 hits in 5.1 innings.

Five different Hawks earned hits, with Ian Moran (2 for 2, 1 RBI) reaching for a double and a stolen base in the 1st inning.  Austin O'Shei (2 for 4) single down the right field line scored Amato for Hilbert's final run in the 4th.

The Hawks (3-19, 1-9 AMCC) return to league play this weekend when they host Mount Aloysius April 13 at Niagara University.
