Men’s Tennis Downed 7-2 at Geneva

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona men's tennis team hit the road to take on non-conference opponent Geneva College on Saturday afternoon, and the Lions suffered a 7-2 loss to the Golden Tornadoes at Blackhawk High School.

Geneva (2-5) opened the match by sweeping the doubles rounds, earning 8-4, 8-6, and 8-3 victories to establish a 3-0 lead in the match. The home team went on to win the No. 1, 2 ,4, and 5 singles matches to finish with a comfortable five-point win.

Penn State Altoona (4-6) picked up two points with wins in singles play. Casey Hess (Annville, PA/Annville-Cleona) posted his team-leading eighth overall singles win of the season in the No. 3 match, where he prevailed 6-1, 6-0. Kirk Eichenlaub (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) won 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 6 match for his seventh overall singles win of the season.

The Lions have another non-conference match on the road for their next competition, as Penn State Altoona will travel to Huntingdon on Tuesday, April 5 to take on Juniata College in a 5:00 p.m. match.
