BUFFALO, N.Y. – Shannon Rogers and Katelyn Proy dominated the paint as the Hilbert College women's basketball team grabbed their first AMCC victory in their 62-46 win at Medaille College tonight. 

Besides the road win, a few other interesting stats were collected by coach Melissa Graham and her Hawks. The 2015-16 team has won more games (after only seven games with a 4-3 record) than the 2014-15 team.  Additionally, the win marks the first time since the 2003-04 season where Hilbert defeated Medaille in women's basketball.

Rogers netted 20 points and continues to lead the entire Division III group of athletes with her 7th double-double after she pulled down 13 rebounds.  Proy grabbed 18 rebounds and added seven blocks as well as 14 points and four assists to pad her freshman year stats.

Emily Speidel had a hot hand from downtown shooting 50% from behind the arc to total 12 points.  Kelsi Ebert and Samantha Heiler matched Proy with a team-best four assists. 

Proy and Rogers combined for 12 offensive rebounds and out-handled the entire Medaille team on the offensive glass (9 individuals, plus 8 team).

Hilbert was credited with 24 turnovers which Medaille converted into 19 points.

The Hawks' defense held Medaille to 24.7% shooting from the field the first 20 minutes which set the tone for the game. 

Hilbert built an 11 point lead after 10 minutes of action and slipped a bit offensively in the second quarter as Medaille outscored the Hawks (12-9) but still trailed 29-21 by intermission.

Rogers and Proy, the #1 and #2 leading rebounders in the AMCC, respectively, produced the game's first 8 points before Medaille knew what hit them.  Ebert sank a pair of buckets and Speidel added another long ball to her count this season before the end of the first quarter.  Speidel found the bottom of the net two more times for another quick six-points in the second quarter helping the Hawks to their 29-21 lead.

Hilbert jumped back on top adding four more points to their lead after three sessions.  Jennifer Colvin, Wyann Jackson and Speidel lit the score board when Rogers and Proy weren't scoring in the paint.

The royal and white closed the final quarter still in control padding four more points for the 16 point victory.  Ebert and Lindsay O'Neil scored a pair of points and Morgan McNeill posted her second collegiate 3-pointer with just under four minutes left in the game.

Hilbert returns to Hamburg this weekend for a 3pm match against Mt. Aloysius December 5.  The Mounties (2-3, 1-0 AMCC) just collected their first 65-42 AMCC win over Franciscan tonight.
