Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Hawks Finish Strong at the Foul Line to Earn Win In Pa.

BRADFORD, Pa. - The Hilbert College women's basketball team hung around just long enough to pull out the 69-65 road win at PItt-Bradford and earned a series sweep over the Panthers in the 2018-19 season.

Hilbert jumped back into a two-way tie with La Roche for the top seed as the regular season winds down.  The Panthers are now knotted with Medaille (7-7) in a 4th place tie.

Ashley Repine, who has averaged 17.4 points and 10.3 rebounds since the Hawks last played Bradford, posted her fourth consecutive double double.  She tossed in a game-high 24 points (8-for-11 from floor), grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds and blocked a game-high three shots on defense.

Emily Gawlak chipped in 15 points, four assists,  hit timely free throws in the final seconds of the comeback win and pulled down nine rebounds.

Demi Battin found the open woman and finished with a season-high nine assists while scoring four points and hustling to three steals and four defensive (5 total) rebounds.

Katelyn Proy, who picked up three fouls in the first three minutes of the game, finished the game with 11 points and five rebounds.

Morgan McNeill filled in well for Proy and secured five rebounds, and four points in her absence on the floor.

Taylor Corts knocked down two 3-point shots and earned five rebounds and two assists in the win.

Bradford held an 18-16 advantage by the start of the second quarter and built their largest lead in the game 32-24 (8-points) with 2:47 left before the break.

Neither team burned the nets after hitting 35% (Hilbert) and 38% (Bradford) from the floor in the opening half.

It took the Hawks almost four minutes before Katelyn Proy's three-point play knotted the score 39-all at 6:10.  Then, three more trips later, Hilbert regained the lead off a Battin 3-pointer.  The Hawks forced two more tie score situtations but trailed Bradford (48-46) at the start of the final quarter.

The Panthers maintained control of the score board until Repine took over.  She tallied ten of Hilbert's 23 points in the final quarter.  Proy tossed in six points and Gawlak put the game away in the final seconds from the foul line.

Hilbert has one day off before they travel to Steubenville, OH to battle the Franciscan Barons February 9.   The Hawks will then turn the corner into the final week of the season when they host D'Youville College in their Pink Game February 13th before they host Greensburg Feb. 16 and honor a pair of seniors Kate Proy and Morgan McNeill  in Senior Day celebrations.
