Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Reynolds Makes 15 Saves & Bundschuh Scores In Hawks Home Opener

HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Hilbert College men's soccer team knotted the game early in the first half and trailed 2-1 at intermission, but the Elmira Soaring Eagles took control of the game in the second half and coasted to a 5-1 win in Hamburg.

Senior Brandon Bundschuh forced a 1-1 score in the 27th minute after his restart kick close to midfield sailed over the Elmira goalie's outstretched hands.  The purple and white scored their second marker just before half time which built the one-goal lead.

Junior goalie Tucker Reynolds finished the game with a season-high 15 saves, going the distance again in net.   He faced a second-half onslaught of shots as the visitors were credited with a 22-1 advantage in shots.

Coach Jeff Hallenbeck saw some positives today.  "We are becoming more deliberate with our individual and team responsibilities," said Hallenbeck. "Our overall performance was fine, we just need to clean up some mental mistakes which will allow us to move toward our goals."

Hilbert returns to the pitch this weekend when they host Wells College at 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 7.  Fans from a far can view the game via Boxcast HD video.
