Big Inning from Mt. Aloysius Seals Fate for La Roche

Big Inning from Mt. Aloysius Seals Fate for La Roche

CRESSON, PA - Softball captured a quick lead early against the Mounties but they were not able to retain the lead, and Mount Aloysius ran away with a big four run inning where they tied the game, and then took the lead, giving the Mounties a 11-6 victory.

La Roche was on the board first with Ashtin Hoover knocking a triple out her first at bat. Katie Gaughan reached the field on a throwing error by the second baseman and Hoover scored the first run in the chaos. This earned Gaughan an RBI.

The fun runs scored in the second inning came from the bats of Kelly Denk, and Alexis Myers who each were credited two RBIS a piece. Denk smacked a double down the left field line, and Myers singled to centerfield.

Denk earned one more RBI and gave Hoover the opportunity to score with a sacrifice fly to left field. Unfortunately for the Redhawks, this was the last run that they were able to get in, and shortly after, the Mounties ran away with the lead.

Myers took the loss for the Redhawks. The righty allowed 11 runs on 15 hits and gave up one homerun.

Ashtin Hoover and Kelly Denk lead at the plate each going two-for-three at the plate. Denk totaled a double and a sacrifice fly. Hoover earned a double.
