Kelley, Pena Double-Double In Pitt. Bradford Win

Emily Kelley (Andover) and Janna Pena (Brooklyn/ACLA) recorded double-doubles in the Alfred State women's basketball 74-49 win over the Pitt. Bradford Panthers on Wednesday evening inside KOA Arena.

The Pioneers improve to 8-7 overall and 5-3 in the AMCC while the Panther move to 2-14 overall and 0-8 in the conference.

Alfred State shot 41.1% in field goals, went 10-for-13 in free throws and out-rebounded Pitt. Bradford 61-38.

Kelley logged her tenth double-double of the season with 16 points and a career-high 20 rebounds and added three assists and four blocks.

Pena noted her third double-double of the season with 13 points and 12 rebounds. My'ana Davis (Greece Athena) led the teams with 18 points and had three assists and five steals. Skylar Shaulis (South Seneca) chipped in 12 points and six rebounds and Maisy Booth (Canisteo Greenwood) scored eight points.

The game was tied 14-14 after the first quarter and Alfred State out-scored Pitt. Bradford 19-17 in the second to head into halftime up 33-31.

The Pioneers put up 28 points in the third quarter, held the Panthers to four points and finished it with a 17-point run.

They took their largest lead of 28-points with 9:11 left in the game. Pitt. Bradford out-scored Alfred State 14-13 in the fourth quarter but the Pioneers performance in the second and third cushioned them for the 25-point win.

The women are back home on Saturday, Jan. 29 to host AMCC opponent Mt. Aloysius at 1 p.m.
