Men’s Soccer Team Earns Shutout Win in Non-Conference Action

The Wells College men's soccer team got a pair of goals in a three-minute span late in the first half to carry them to victory over visiting Hilbert College on Friday, Oct. 1.

Nathan Soliman's pair of assists led the way for the Express. Soliman assisted on Quinten Battle's game winner in the first half and then set-up Shane Syms in the second to secure the win.

Sandwiched between those goals was a tally by Roman Martinez, who scored in the first half from a feed from Justin Butler to make it a 2-0 game.

Wells goalkeeper Colton Jaquith, who leads the nation in D-III saves, outdueled his counterpart with a half-dozen saves to earn his first clean sheet of the season. The six saves increased his season total to 99 and left him just three saves shy of tying a season-high mark he set in 2019.

Alimar Ramirez had a team-best four shots to lead the offensive attack with a pair finding the net. The Express outshot the Hawks by a 19-9 margin.

The men's soccer team next hosts Elmira on Tuesday, Oct. 5 with a 5 p.m. start.
