ELMIRA, N.Y. – The Hilbert College men's soccer team kept it close for the first 45-minutes of action, but the heat and lack of bench size played a big part in the Hawks 6-0 defeat at Empire 8 Elmira College (1-2) in non-conference action today.

Hilbert (0-2) limited the Soaring Eagles in the first half of action playing to a 1-0 score.  But the hosts were able to rotate 15 players from the bench onto the pitch in the second half as their fresh legs carried them to victory.

Freshman Evan Robillard, making his collegiate start between the pipes, was credited with 13 saves after facing 47 shots against the Soaring Eagles.  Elmira, credited with 15 shots in the opening period, unleashed 32 second-half rockets which Robillard made 10 saves against.

Hilbert was limited on offense, not getting any shots off, as they covered the defensive half of the field all afternoon.

The Hawks travel this weekend to Wells College Sunday, September 9 for a 12 noon non-conference game.  The Express will provide Live stats for the game for fans who cannot travel to Aurora, NY.
