HAMBURG, N.Y. – Hilbert College scored early in the game and then matched efforts with Pitt-Bradford to the final horn.  

The Hawks posted a 2-1 victory over the Panthers in women's soccer in what turned out to be the first game in several weeks where Hilbert was playing at full strength.

Alyssa Siracuse's opening-minute score gave the Hawks the confidence they needed on the pitch.  She delivered a marker to the back of the net in the 12th minute thanks to the feed by Gina Mallone.

Bradford's hard shot from the point was too quick for Jenna Castricone as the Panthers knotted the game a 1-1 just before intermission.

But Brooklynn Gormel's return to play was another lift for the team, and when the All-Conference defender scored the game winner off a restart kick in the 55th minute things changed for the Hawks.

Hilbert held on during the final Panther rally which produced 10 shots and five corner kicks in the game's final 12 minutes of play.

Bradford outshot Hilbert 32-5 and held an 11-1 edge in corner kicks.

Jenna Castricone posted another double-digit saves day earning 10 saves in the full 90-minute game.  Lauren Lepovich was credited with the only other Hilbert shot on goal this afternoon.

The Hawks (2-7-1) head to La Roche College this weekend for a 3:15pm kick-off against the Redhawks October 7.
