Women’s Tennis Downed in Season Opener

GREENSBURG, Pa. – The Penn State Altoona women's tennis team finally got its 2022 schedule started on Sunday afternoon, but the result was not favorable to the Lions, who took a 9-0 loss from Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference foe Pitt-Greensburg at the Greensburg Racquet Club.

Pitt-Greensburg (1-1, 1-0 AMCC) took a 3-0 lead through doubles play, as the Bobcats prevailed in the three matches by scores of 8-2, 8-0, and a forfeit. The home team went on to win all six singles matches decisively to pick up the victory on the day.

Penn State Altoona women's tennis (0-1, 0-1 AMCC) is scheduled to return to action this upcoming Wednesday, September 14, when the Lions will host non-conference opponent Grove City College for a match starting at 4:30 p.m.
