Davis Drops 20-points in La Roche Loss

My'ana Davis (Greece Athena) scored 20 points in the Alfred State women's basketball 88-55 loss to the La Roche Redhawks on Monday evening inside the Kerr Fitness & Sports Center.

The Pioneers move to 7-7 overall and 4-3 in the AMCC while the Redhawks improve to 10-5 overall and 6-2 in the conference.

Alfred State shot 36.9% in field goals, 40% in free throws and out-rebounded La Roche 40-38 but had 17 turnovers that the Redhawks were able to score 21 points off of.

Davis recorded her 10th double digit game of the season and fourth game with 20-point or more.

Emily Kelley (Andover) logged her ninth double-double of the season with 10 points and 12 rebounds, Janna Pena (Brooklyn/ACLA) added eight points and seven rebounds and Maisy Booth (Canisteo Greenwood) chipped in seven points with six rebounds.

Alfred State trailed 13-8 in the first quarter but the went toe-to-toe with the Redwhawks in the second quarter scoring 26 points to their 27 to head into halftime down by six.

La Roche put up 25 points in the third quarter and 23 in the fourth and held the Pioneers to just 21 point the entire second half to take the 33-point win.

The women are back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 26 to at Pitt.-Bradford in a conference game at 5:30 p.m.
