UTICA, N.Y. – Chelsea Olson scored the game's only goal in the 88th minute to lift Hilbert College to a 1-0 victory over The Sages in the opening round of the SUNYIT women's soccer tournament August 30.

Hilbert opens their 2014 season with a chance to claim a tournament championship when they battle the Albany School of Pharmacy, a 3-1 winner over the host institution, at 2pm on August 31.

Both teams played an even match during the game's first 45-minutes of play.  Sage held a one shot advantage over the Hawks with all three of their attempts tallied as saves for Grace Adams in net for Hilbert.

The Sages picked up their intensity in the second half and outshot the Hawks 13-4. Adams was credited with eight more saves to earn her first double-digit save victory in her collegiate career.

Sophomore Jennifer Colvin led the Hawks charge on offense with three of her four shots fitting between the pipes.

Megan Van Norman's final shot of the game at 88:41 was saved by Teagan Waddingham, but the Sages keeper deflected the ball back into play and Olson knocked it home for the winner.

Hilbert returns to the pitch tomorrow for the final game of the two-day trip to central New York.
