Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Tough Shooting Day Prevent Victory For Hawks

CRESSON, Pa. – After shooting a season low field goal percentage, the Hilbert College women's basketball team suffered a 67-49 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference loss at Mount Aloysius College December 6.

Shannon Rogers struck for 14 points and shared game high rebounding numbers (8) with Markayla Feaster.

Haley Oakes hit three of her five attempts from the floor, sinking two long-balls to post eight points.

The Hawks struggled from the floor finishing the game with 28.6 field goal percentage and made only three of the 13 shots from beyond the arc.  Their shooting woes continued at the charity stripe hitting only 10 of 24 attempts (41.7%).

Mount Aloysius was led by Olivia Rupp's 14 points and got an additional 13 markers from Abbie Zinobile as the Mounties finished the game shooting 42.4%.  The hosts also sank eight 3-point attempts but also struggled from the foul line (50%).

Samantha Heiler put the Hawks on the board first at 19:41 and Emily Speidel's three-pointer followed her short jumper to give Hilbert their largest lead of the game three minutes into the contest.  Mount Aloysius chipped away at the score and took their first lead at 13:49.

Both teams traded baskets and Feaster's layup cut the difference to two points.  But the Mounties went on a 9-0 run to build a double digit lead.  Oakes hit a three to bring Hilbert to 26-18 and the teams played even to the break.

Mount Aloysius opened the second half with a long ball before Heiler closed the gap to under 10 points for the last time.  The Mounties slowly extended their lead and maintained the double-digit advantage till the final horn.

Mount Aloysius held a 48-29 rebounding advantage and were credited with 11 steals off Hilbert's 22 turnovers.

The Hawks scored 21 points off the 30 Mount Aloysius turnovers.  Speidel and Heiler led Hilbert with three steals each.
