KEUKA PARK, N.Y. - After opening the day with a 3-set loss to Alfred State College, the Hilbert women's volleyball team battled Keuka College in the night cap match. The Hawks fell to the Wolves, also in three sets, but gave the hosts a run for their money early in the match.
Going six players deep in the second game of the day, Hilbert challenged Keuka in the first set, 25-23. The Hawks dropped the next two (25-14, 25-15) and fell to 0-4 early in the season.
Torianna LeWand posted six kills, three service aces and four digs. K Kuzara was credited with 12 assists and 13 digs, while
Sara Trzepkowski led with 14 digs and four kills.
Natassia West earned three kills, two service aces, both of Hilbert's solo blocks and four digs.
Earlier in the day, the Pioneers from Alfred State took a straight set win (25-10, 25-11, 25-16).
Ashley Repine was tough on defense as she finished with five solo blocks adn six digs. LeWand added seven digs and six of the Hawks nine kills.
Hilbert will host their home-opener September 11 when they welcome Elmira College in a 6pm contest in the Hafner Recreation Center. Fans who can't make the mid-week, earlier than normal contest, my follow action via free High Definition
